This research project is a collaboration between Health Sciences North Research Institute, N’Minoeyaa Aboriginal Health Access Centre and Noojmowin Teg Aboriginal Health Access Centre.

The goal of this project is to build sustainable community-owned and directed strategies to support healthy aging and dementia care in Indigenous communities, with a focus on cultural safety and trauma-informed care.

Communities are able to approach developing the best possible quality of life for individuals living with dementia and MCC, their families, caregivers and the community as a whole. Community-driven strategies to support aging in a good way throughout life. Health care service providers and learners are better prepared to develop a supportive healing relationship with the people of their community.

Purpose

This project will support Indigenous communities in their understanding of multiple chronic conditions, dementia and the risk for dementia due to multiple chronic conditions.
